The Mexican national newspaper El Heraldo de México has a US branch, and reporter Blanca Becerrila visited Houston as part of "La Comunidad Latina" series. This series took place in different cities in the U.S., and one was Houston. While Becerrila visited the Mexican consulate in Houston, she stopped by Rice University to better understand what students of Latino descent are doing and studying here. Dr. Pineda Turi spoke about her work with Medical Humanities and Spanish for Medical Professions as a program that prepares future healthcare professionals, including Latino students, and helps Latino immigrants access appropriate healthcare services.
